Gold

Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from the Latin aurum) and atomic number 79 This is a highly sought after precious metal and valued as ornaments or coins since the dawn of history . This metal is in the natural form of chips, which may have been pulverized into flakes or by mechanical erosion. The various forms of its distribution in the native state are the vein, inclusion in the ultrabasic rocks, alluvial deposits resulting from fluvial erosion of rocks. Pure gold is a noble metal, the most malleable and ductile of the known metals, both dense and soft. It is a bright yellow metal that oxidizes or air or water: the fact that it preserves its luster, perceived aesthetic by all human cultures, gives it much of its value. Gold found industrial applications in dentistry and electronics, due to its very good resistance to corrosion and excellent electrical conductivity, but its main use remains hoarding. From a chemical point of view, gold is a transition metal capable of forming mono-and trivalent cations in solution. It is less reactive than most other transition metals, but is attacked by aqua regia giving HAuCl4 chloroauric acid and alkaline solutions by cyanide but not by hydrochloric acid HCl, or HNO3 nitric sulfuric H2SO4. Like lead, it dissolves into the mercury in an amalgam form, but does not react with the metal. Gold is insoluble in nitric acid, which dissolves yet silver and base metals, this property is used to separate and purify.
